In my opinion, this is the answer of 2014 to the 2012’s Oppa Gangnam Style and 2013’s Harlem Shake trends 🙂
So many recent Ice Bucket Challenge videos around which virtually began to catch world’s at shock on July 2014. And the list goes on and on…
With this article, I would love to give some brief explanation about this trending topic (should you intend for more information, please go to the respected sources I give just in the end of this post)
1. What is “Ice Bucket Challenge”
Ice Bucket Challenge is a short and fun activity of throwing / dumping a bucket of ice water onto someone’s head.
2. How it is done?
The ‘victim’ will be sit on a chair staring front. Then ultimately himself/herself or someone else carrying a bucket of ice will lift the bucket up and throw it down right on the top of ‘victim’s head.. All the videos of those challenges should be uploaded into YouTube and tagged in Twitter with hashtag #ALSIceBucketChallenge
3. What is the purpose?
This activity is associated with a move to promote awareness of the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and thus leverage donation to the patients and for the research. It is promoted by ALS Association which is responsible to collect all the donations and help caring the patients while also embark on deplorable studies and researches on the respective diseases (please go to ALS Association link I provided below for further information including how to donate)
Statement from ALSA (www.alsa.org) “
OUR MISSION: Leading the fight to treat and cure ALS through global research and nationwide advocacy while also empowering people with Lou Gehrig’s Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.”
4. How is it going all over the world?
So far it becomes a worldwide ‘phenomenon‘, just like all those public and private companies blatantly took a time off their working hours to just doing that scrappy “Harlem Shake” dance and uploaded it onto You TUbe in 2013 LOL 😀 .
In celebrity world, after ‘feeling’ the cold ice, popular figures usually nominate (read : invite) their peers / counterparts / colleagues to take this “Ice Bucket Challenge” and sometimes that invitation become a hit news too. For example recently Bon Jovi invited Ritchie Sambora to take the challenge – (the pairs have been infamously known for being in feud arguments led to exclusion of that iconic guitarist from Bon Jovi 2013-2014 world tour). And of course the famous Mark Zuckerberg (FACEBOOK) invited Bill Gates (MICROSOFT) for that challenge – see the video I attach above 😀
