Congratulations Real Madrid F.C. for winning Champions League 2013/2014 (La Decima)

The Thursday 22nd of May 2014 may will be long forever remembered on each and every Madridista (Real Madrid Football Club fan) young and old – including myself, as it is the monumental heroic day for Real Madrid. They win the Champions League 2013/2014 final on Lisbon against their city-rival, Atletico Madrid. After kept at bay for almost all over 90 minutes with one goal at the account of Atletico Madrid – thanks to an uncharacteristic error by RM goalkeeper Iker Casillas, the RM players roll their bones until the end and finally get their rewards with an equalizer by the inspiring Sergio Ramos’ header on 93th minute.

As a fan I never thought it would happen though. Perhaps they were not on their best as Atletico Madrid collectively with muscular strength to hold their defense as tight as rock. Honestly neither Real Madrid nor Atletico Madrid show their real quality – as the AM goal was a total blunder and not coming through straight attack – and I may consider that was one of the most boring CL final over the years, at least until the extra time began.

On the 2*15 minutes extra time, however, Real Madrid show their experience while the AM players who heroically worked their socks off on both half before – clearly shocked by Ramos equalizer – totally lost interest due to their fatally decreased stamina and maybe idea as will. The speedy RM players like Di Maria, Modric, and Bale showed no mercy and made rampage to the exhausted Atletico Madrid defenders and in the last 15 minutes they easily got 3 goals scored by Gareth Bale, Marcello, and Cristiano Ronaldo. Seeing Marcello goal, you can easily track that AM defense had been out of breath and concentration – contrast to their overall La Liga games and previous Champions League games (note that they were unbeaten in CL games this season before the final)

Credit to Atletico Madrid for graciously and miraculously reaching the final beat the likes of Barcelona, Chelsea, etc. But again, the history has been written, Real Madrid get the La Decima – Spanis phrase for ten times – as they get their 10th Champions League Cup after the last win on 2002. HALA MADRID!!!
