R.I.P. Jack Bruce (14 May 1943 – 25 October 2014)

25 October 2014 – my birthday – unfortunately outweighted by the death of one of my musical heroes, Jack Bruce, famously known as lead vocalist, bassist, and primary songwriter of supergroup band Cream in the 60’s

Jack Bruce which his superb talent definitely cast a lot of shadows on future generations of bassists and vocalists, like Geddy Lee (Rush), Sting (The Police), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Trapeze, Black Country Communion). Singing his heart out while dancing his fingers on the bass frets is such a pure magical pleasure and view for everyone who comes to listen and see him. Sunshine of your Love is of course his masterpiece, but he put a lot of works into a huge string of blues rock songs over the years even performing until the days before he finally say goodbye to the world.

I also noted in some interviews, he was unwilling to go mainstream after Cream years and prefer to work much outside the limelight and just focus on the music. But he also wish Eric Clapton – who chosed the mainstream career – well, and Jack surely loves him. One angry Jack in 2010 even stated Clapton is much better than Jimmy Page.

RIP Jack!

Cream 2005 – Sunshine of your Love – Jack Bruce really shines on this concert

Cream – Spoonful – Jack is more known as prolific bassist, but here you can see how his voice is really a gift, he put much of his heart onto it

R.I.P Joe Cocker

December 22nd 2014, the singer Joe Cocker left this world at the age of 70. Huge catalogue of songs but perhaps the most famous is The Beatles cover “With a Little Help From My Friends”, IMO the best Beatles cover song ever exists.

Rest in Peace soul master and now you can sing your heart out straight to the face of God

Parapat – Tomok Ferry Ship Crossing Toba Lake

Ferry transport is not only utilised for crossing the sea or strait only. In Lake Toba it is also used for carrying the vehicles from either sides of the lake (Parapat/Ajibata to Tomok). Actually there are newer but smaller ferry crossings in Toba Lake, like from Tiga Ras to Simanindo and a small one from Tamba to Palipi. But Parapat – Tomok route is the most famous and possesses the most number of travels.

Penjelajahan 9 Kota, 10 Hari di Vietnam – Hanoi

Hanoi, Vietnam

"Travel brings yourself back as yourself" - Dea Sihotang

North Korea vs South Korea in Asian Games 2014 Football Final

Regardless if it has been predicted or not or because both are currently the best team in Asia…whatsoever, it was North Korea vs South Korea in the penultimate football gamees in Asian Games 2014 Incheon.

Rather smoothly, the participation of North Korea on Asian Games 2014 which was held on their ‘enemy’s land’ found no serious issues at all. Kim Jong Un’s official send 150 North Korean athletes plus officers to cross the border, into the country which is technically at war with them (Both North – South only signed a truce back then, not a peace treaty). And as nothing really happen, the North Korea contingent achieved respectable results including breaking world record on lifting.

However it is the football game that was interesting. Continue reading
